The local parks and recreation district is recognized as one of the finest in the area. There are plenty of hiking trails, family-friendly parks and open spaces, swimming, volleyball courts, the twelve-mile Contra Costa Canal Trail (that runs through town), and endless scenic views of Mt. Diablo. 

Pleasant Hill is ideally located just north of Walnut Creek, making it a desirable location for commuters traveling to and from San Francisco.  Pleasant Hill is located along the Bart line, and a ride into the big city is incredibly convenient.
